Recognising Competency
The “Recognising Competency” model provides a cost effective and efficient solution to staff development and training in organisations.
The model takes a holistic approach to competency assessment by encouraging the use of clustered units. Underpinning knowledge and workplace practices are then assessed together providing natural and performance based evidence gathering opportunities.
Professional Development
We do not directly provide assessment services.
1. We provide professional development to trainers and assessors in
the use of the Recognising Competency model.
2. We undertake projects to implement the model with target
workforces.
3. We will link individuals with assessors using the
model
OTTE Executive Briefing: Recognising
Competency "well received"
At the request of Patricia Neden, Deputy Secretary, Office of Training and Tertiary Education, Brian Spencer presented the Recognising Competency model to the senior executive officers of the OTTE (Oct 25th). The model was well received with several general managers commenting on the fresh approach the Recognising Competency model brings to an issue which has become bogged down in practice and systemically. The presentation was followed by a discussion of some key issues and ways forward for RPL. Advice from OTTE is that some additional presentations may be requested for other staff.
